Andy Smith won the toss and decided to bat on a good Great Baddow wicket in the league cup and the decision paid off with Smith and Copsey both scoring at 5 an over to leave Billericay a good platform of 25-0 off 5 overs. Smith eventually perished for a well made 38, but with the introduction of Paul Walter Billericay’s scoring rated accelerated to over seven runs per over. Walter batted beautifully for a belligerent 69 not out while Copsey made a stoic 23 as Billericay amassed a formidable 151 off their 20 overs.

 

In reply, Great Baddow lost wickets frequently and if it wasn’t for a well made twenty four by Simmonds then the scorecard would have been embarrassing, as they made 82 off their allotted overs. Everyone who bowled took wickets in an impressive display, but the pick of the bowlers was Phil Reynolds (3-1-4-1) who bowled with control despite getting excessive movement.
